Course Content

Scratch Jr.: Getting Started (Beginner)
Scratch Jr.: Getting Started is a gentle, playful first step into the world of coding. In this course, children explore coding through music, movement, sound, and storytelling. By watching short videos and trying simple ideas, children discover how colorful blocks can make characters move, change, repeat, and make sounds. Children are encouraged to explore freely, repeat videos they enjoy, and play with ideas at their own pace. There are no right or wrong answers—only curiosity, creativity, and fun. This course is designed as the starting point for Scratch Jr. learning at Ottiya.

🧩 Meet the Scratch Jr Blocks
In this topic, children are gently introduced to Scratch Jr blocks through music, movement, and play. Instead of memorizing what each block does, children are invited to notice colors, sounds, and actions, building familiarity in a joyful, low-pressure way.

🚦 Starting Stories & Making Things Move
In this topic, children explore how Scratch Jr stories begin and how characters move. They are introduced to blocks that start actions and blocks that control movement, all through one playful demonstration video.

🌸 Changing Characters & Ending Stories
In this topic, children explore how characters can change during a story and how stories can pause, stop, or move to a new scene.

⏳ Timing, Repeating & Sound
In this topic, children explore how stories repeat, wait, speed up, slow down, and make sounds. These ideas help stories feel playful, musical, and alive.

🌈 A Simple Scratch Jr Scene
In this final topic, children create a simple Scratch Jr scene using their favorite blocks. A scene is a small moment on the screen—like a silly dance, a funny move, or a short action with sound. The goal is not to tell a full story, but to help children feel confident making something happen and excited to create more in future courses.
